I recently received this note titled “We Must Stand With Israel”, from Daniel Webster, US Representative:
Well, my short answer is: actually, we don’t. We have no obligation to stand with any foreign nation.
The current situation in the Middle East is sad, as any life is precious. Any life taken is crime against God-Almighty. However, I vehemently disagree we should send hard-earned US taxpayer money (actually, issue debt, as there is no money) to fund wars in foreign countries.
Our Founding Fathers seem to agree with this position:
“Steer clear of permanent alliance with any portion of the foreign world” - George Washington.
“Peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations; entangling alliances with none” - Thomas Jefferson, inaugural pledge.
I am sure Mr. Webster heard these quotes before. However, his note tells me he has either forgotten them or he disagrees with them. I hope it is the former, in which case I am here to refresh his memory.
US Representatives ought to follow our Founding Fathers’ wise advice and righteous legacy. This is not a matter of political position: far from it. It is a foundational, solemn duty of a US Representative, acquired at the moment one swears allegiance to the American People. To the AMERICAN People.
From further deepening our national debt, to triggering terror cells created domestically in 3+ years of open borders, to sending our children to die in a foreign battlefield, there is no possible good outcome for the American People in involving The United States in this war. Doing otherwise is a violation of the oath of office, in detriment of the Americans’ pursuit of Happiness.
There is no language in the US Constitution authorizing US officials provide for the defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the liberty to peoples in foreign nations: it is only The American People to which it refers. And because there is no language in the US Constitution authorizing this, any bills passed in this regard are therefore illegal.
I am not a lawyer. But my layman’s understanding is that, by appropriating funds to the assistance of foreign nations, the US officials are:
acting under the the color of law to willfully deprive the right of the Americans to their property (Title 18, US Code, Section 242);
engaging in illegal factual seizure of that property (4th Amendment);
construing legislation to deny the right to property retained by the people (9th Amendment); by
using powers not explicitly delegated to the United States by the US Constitution (10th Amendment).
Further, as stated clearly by the great Chief Justice Marshall in his majority opinion for the case Marbury v. Madison, 1803, “A Law repugnant to the Constitution is void”.
In response to Mr. Webster’s statement: standing with Israel is a matter of personal choice. As a US Representative, his oath of office is with the American People.
Between Israel and Iran, Ukraine and Russia… I choose The People of The United States of America.
